Mr. Roy Carver III started Pacific farms, located in Florence, Oregon, in 1991 when he imported fresh Wasabi plants from Japan.
His purpose was to see if Wasabi could be grown successfully in the U.S.
At the same time, he gathered a scientific database about Wasabi.
Pacific Farms then spent the next six months translating the database into English.
After five years of research and development we harvested our first test crop. By the end of 1995, we started growing Wasabi plants in our nursery for planting in our re-circulating hydroponics system.
In 1997 we began producing our 100% Real wasabi paste.
While we no longer grow wasabi at our Florence location, we continue to offer our fresh wasabi products to restaurants, hotels, processing plants and individuals throughout the United States.
